about me

It’s not often that a girl raised in the heart of the midwest ventures out and makes her home in the middle of the urban jungle. And yet, that’s my story. I’m Samantha: a writer, editor, and commerce expert based in Manhattan, New York. As a kid, I grew up reading my mom’s old copies of Good Housekeeping and Better Homes & Gardens—and it was on those pages that my own love for the intersection of writing and design was born.

I attended Drake University in college, where I graduated with a double major in Magazine media and News journalism, alongside a minor in graphic design. (Fun fact: I also ran as a Division I track and cross-country athlete during my time there.) I interned at major publications as a college student, including Food Network Magazine and Better Homes & Gardens, earning both print and digital bylines before even graduating.

Today, I have close to a decade of writing and editing experience at major publications like Good Housekeeping, Better Homes & Gardens, Cosmopolitan, Real Simple, ELLE, House Beautiful, and many more. I’m an expert at crafting commerce content, whether it’s an in-depth running shoe review or a quick-hit trend report on emerging fashion trends. I’ve created and executed content strategies for major shopping events, managed young writers and networks of freelancers, and collaborated across multiple brands and teams without missing a beat.
